Despite its previous reputation of being the HR enforced, once a year tick, the box activity. Team Building is the most vital investment a company can bring for its people.
It builds trust, mitigates conflict, encourages communication, and increases collaboration. Through with a touch imagination, team building is often adventurous and enjoyable.
Team Building, doesn’t need to include anything too strenuous. It is often fun activities that help people see one another during a different light, allowing them to attach on a private level during a different setting.
Few ground rules worth considering:
1. Don’t force it! –
As long as employees are spending time together on a social level, sharing experiences, and dealing towards a standard goal, it’ll allow bonding to happen more organically and much more effectively.
2. It’s an investment, not a splurge “just for fun” –
Team Building doesn’t need to be fancy nor expensive, but be willing to form a true investment by creating an experience that’s unforgettable, making your people feel highly appreciated.
3. Keep the office positive-
One-day activities aren’t as effective if they’re just that…. One day. Most team building falls short because it’s a one-time activity, completed then forgotten. The key is to seek out ways to stay the thrill going.
4. Be inventive-
Happiness and learning are tied very closely together. So, make sure you choose something unique and slightly outside of everyone’s comfort zones, this will encourage them to return together in new ways.
Many companies branded because the “Best Places to Work” achieve this by implementing Team Building and Employee Wellness into their strategic planning.
How does one know if you bought team building right?
If there was a sense of accomplishment, excitement and there was laughter… you’re on the right track.
